Week 8

For this weeks assignment, I commented on Darcey’s, Rylie’s, and Paul’s

Darcey is a 12 year old from Australia. She wrote an entertaining post about popular food in her country, Australia. She talks about many foods that I have never heard of before. In Australia, they call having a barbecue a barbie where they cook meats, swim, and play games. I was very intrigued by her post.

Rylie is a 12 year old who lives in Canada. He wrote an interesting post about dogs. His post is factual yet still has his opinion in it. I enjoyed his post and found it to be well written.

The last post I commented on was on Paul’s blog. Paul is from France. Paul wrote a very deep post about being successful in life. It talked about how the only important thing is to be happy. He also gave advice on how to do well in school to create a successful life for one’s self. It was a very unique and fascinating.

Week 7

Nature’s Beauty

Nature is amazing. There are so many parts of nature. It can vary from the rocky mountains in the Appalachians, to the roaring rivers in Colorado. It is something that I would never get bored looking at. Lurking in the nature also contains a plethora of types of species of animals of all different shapes and sizes. The best thing about it, is that nature is everywhere.

One thing I love about nature is the beautiful ocean. The ocean is one of the most beautiful places in the world. With the moonlight or sunshine reflecting off of it as the surface of the glistening water. It is just awe taking. Also, there is so much of the ocean that hasn’t been explored yet, so it is full of mysteries. We don’t know what could be living in the deep depths of the ocean which makes it so mysterious and interesting. Also, the ocean surrounds us for the Earth is 70% ocean after all. One of the greatest things about the ocean, is the tide. The ocean is constantly moving. It has powerful waves that can be from tiny ripples to 100ft waves or even tsunami’s. It is almost like the ocean has a mind of its own and is a living organism. If you want to learn more about the ocean, here is a link: http://www.factmonster.com/world/geography/oceans.html

Another thing that I love about nature are volcanoes. For those of you who don’t know, a volcano is a mountain that explodes to release a pool of molten rock below the surface of the earth. Volcanoes are very interesting, but are also very dangerous. Volcanos can knock down entire forests and can even cause natural disasters such as earthquakes or tsunamis. There are many volcanoes around the world, and many are still active or even overdue an eruption. The volcano in yellowstone is 40,000 years overdue an eruption. Volcanoes aren’t just on land, but are also in the sea. 15,000 volcanoes on land are still active, but there are many more in the sea but the number of those volcanoes is unknown.  To learn more about volcanoes, visit this site: http://www.weatherwizkids.com/weather-volcano.htm Nature is a beautiful place that surrounds both you and me.

Week 5 Activity 1

One very popular food item in America is the hamburger. The hamburger was first created in Connecticut in the early 1900’s by a man named Louis Lassen. People began to love this special sandwich, so from that point on hamburgers started to become popular in many other states. A hamburger can be cooked in many different ways such as cooking it on a frying pan, on the barbecue, and flame-broiling it. Hamburgers can be served with a variation of condiments on top of them such ketchup, mustard, relish, mayonnaise, and chilies. The also may be served with cheese, sliced tomato, lettuce, pickles, onion, or even bacon. I found my research from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamburger .Screen Shot 2015-11-09 at 7.50.03 PM

Week 5 Activity 2

At my school, there are a plethora of options for food to buy for lunch. Those options include Pick Up Sticks, Pizza Hut, and Fresh Brothers. Instead of Taco Tuesday, the option at my school is Subway sandwiches on Tuesdays. There are also chocolate chip cookies and a variety of drinks to buy for lunch at my school. All in all, there are multiple types of foods to buy for lunch at my school.

Week 5 Activity 4

For this activity, I visited 5 blogs from different countries than mine. The first blog I commented on was Ayla from Canada’s blog( http://aylaz13.edublogs.org ). She wrote a post on a popular dish in Canada called poutine. My comment was:

I really enjoyed your post about poutine! One question though, are restaurants that just serve poutine very common in Canada?
-Jason https://jasonhahn1902.edublogs.org

The second blog I commented on was on Claire’s blog( https://bloggingwithclaire.edublogs.org ). She is from Australia and wrote a post about a food that is common there called damper. My comment was:

I loved your post on damper! Do they serve damper in restaurants in Australia?
-Jason https://jasonhahn1902.edublogs.org

The third blog I commented on was on Chantal’s blog( http://chantalz13.edublogs.org/ ). She lives in Canada and wrote a post about maple syrup. My comment was:

I also love maple syrup! Do you only eat maple syrup with breakfast foods in Canada or do you eat it with other meals too?
-Jason https://jasonhahn1902.edublogs.org

The fourth blog I commented on was on Anjali’s post on many popular foods in Australia( http://bloggingwithanjali.edublogs.org/2015/11/06/313/ ). My comment was:

All those food sound very tasty! What is pavlova made out of?
-Jason https://jasonhahn1902.edublogs.org

The last blog I commented on was on Mia from Australia’s blog: http://bloggingwithmia04.edublogs.org/ She made a post on pavlova. My comment was:

Pavlova sounds delicious! Do you have pavlova as a dessert item in Australia?
-Jason https://jasonhahn1902.edublogs.org

Week 2 Activity 3

Commenting is one of the biggest parts of blogging. Commenting is a way to interact with the blogger. Commenting is the only way to start conversations with the blogger and even get to know them. Although commenting is very fun, there are many guidelines to comment correctly. First of all, every single comment must be positive. Nobody wants to read a negative comment. All it does is put everybody that reads the comment in a bad mood. If you don’t have anything nice to comment, then just save everybody some time and don’t comment at all. Second, all of the comments must be relevant to the post. Commenting about a different topic than the post commented on makes no sense and is not necessary. Lastly, respect other’s comments. No comments should be a put down for other commenters. Those are the 3 rules that I believe are most important about commenting.

Week 2 Activity 4

I commented on four of my classmates blogs.

The first blog I commented on was Gavin’s post about his avatar. His avatar was of a blonde young boy with spiky hair and a basketball in his hands. Gavin’s avatar looks just like him, and the basketball represents all of the sports he plays. My comment was:

This avatar represents you perfectly. Your love of sports are portrayed perfectly in you avatar. It also looks exactly like you.
-Jason

The second blog I commented on was Jonah’s post about commenting. After I read Jonah’s post, I realized that me and him both are on the same page when it comes to commenting. We both agree that comments should be meaningful.

I completely agree with your opinion about commenting. Comments should always be meaningful and have proper grammar. You and I both have very similar opinions about commenting.

The third blog I commented on was Billy’s post about his trip to New York. I was very interested about his trip because he had the opportunity to compare two different places and the life styles of people in both places as well.

New York sounds so interesting! I wish I could go there soon. It must have been cool seeing and comparing two different types of cities.
-Jason

The last blog I commented on was Jaden’s post all about himself. His post was interesting because it revealed multiple traits about him that I didn’t know. I didn’t know he was scared of horses and is interested in outer space.

I enjoyed your poem because it says a lot about you. It explains some of your interests that I didn’t even know about you. Who knew you were scared of horses?

Week 3 Activity 1

For many years, my family and I have been taking ski/snowboarding trips to Mammoth. For some reason, the time I went last year was the best. This was a ski trip I would never forget. My family stayed in a hotel at the bottom of the mountain so everyday, I would get my snowboard and snowboarding gear, walk out of the hotel, and already be at the chairlifts. It was so convenient and amazing. Also, my hotel room had an awe taking view of the mountains as you can see in the picture. Although the snow wasn’t so great that year, I got to see many of my school friends and family friends while at my stay. Whether I was on the mountain or off, this trip to Mammoth was an amazing time and a trip to remember.

Week 3 Activity 2

Fred B&W

About 2 years ago, my Grandpa Fred passed away. He passed away from a horrific disease called ALS otherwise known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. My grandfather was a very generous, nice, smart, and caring man. He had a great sense of humor and was known for his genius desserts. Since he was a doctor, he would always help cure my injuries that foolish 4 year old me would continue to cause to happen. He was a very bright, intelligent person who taught me multiple life lessons that I still use in my everyday life today. My grandfather will forever have a special place in my heart.
